Two girls and a Cockroach

This happened last night when my friend Kate discovered a cockroach among some tools in the kitchen/living room area.
We live in Florida and the cockroaches were here before we were but this is the first one to have sneaked inside my condo and I don't want to keep him as a pet. Can you say eek?
Still in my swimsuit after a hot tub visit, I attempted to kill it while Kate stood far enough away to be able to run  if the creepy thing started chasing us.
